Unusual advertising piece for "Jonathan Crookes" United States Congress Cutlery. 8-3/4"x5-3/4". c. 1900. Fine condition. The cutlery business of "Jonathan Crookes" originated in 1780. The trademark "heart and percussion pistol" was first used as early as 1780. The original user was J. Crookes, 1780 - 1827. The firm became & Son about 1827. It has since passed through many hands.
