Booklet, "Sketch of the Laws Relating to Slavery in the Several States of the United States of America", disbound, 1856, by George M. Stroud, Philadelphia, 126pp.,. This publication makes note of several of the laws restricting slaves. In small part, "A slave can not be a witness against a white in civil or criminal court. ... The master may, at his discretion, inflict any species of punishment upon the person of his slave. ... Slavery is hereitary and perpetual. ... Submission is required of the slave, not to the will of his master only, but to that of all other white persons. ..."
