Lot of three scarce signed photographs of SITTING BULL, GERONIMO, and RAIN-IN-THE -FACE, and includes: GERONIMO(1829-1909) Apache Indian Chief who directed attacks against White settlers encroaching on tribal and traditionally sacred lands. After numerous campaigns and successfully eluding military efforts for his capture, the great Chief was finally taken prisoner by George Crook. Geronimo briefly escaped, but was recaptured by Nelson Miles. The remainder of his life was spent under "supervision" with his movements strictly controlled by the military. Real Photo Postcard depicting Geronimo and his wife by Canady, and is signed in bold dark ink at top "GERONIMO." Fine. From the collection of L.B. Deming Jr. whose grandparents were personal friends of Geronimo, with Letter of Provenance...plus; SITTING BULL (1831-1890)Lakota Medicine Man and Chief prophesized the Custer Massacre and was considered the last Sioux to surrender to the U.S. Government. Cabinet Card photograph signed "SITTING BULL" on verso of this fine photograph by George Scott of the Dakota Territory. Fine....plus; RAIN-IN-THE-FACE (1835-1905)warchief in the Lakota tribe of Native Americans in the American Old West. He was among the Indian leaders who defeated George Armstrong Custer and the U.S. 7th Cavalry Regiment at the 1876 Battle of Little Big Horn. Cabinet Card photograph signed, "Rain in the face" in pencil on verso of photograph of him by Army photographer George Spencer in 1893. This signed image was witnessed as their is another manuscript on verso "written by himself W.G.L." Fine. All three images are mounted and framed together. A historic and wonderful display set.
