August 31, 1820, Court Documents regarding mortgaged Negroes Mount Airy, New Orleans, Choice Fine. Manuscript document, 12" x 7.5" 1 page. Mailed from Port Gibson, Mount Airy Plantation in New Orleans. Included is a typed transcription of the letter stating:" Dear Sir, I addressed you on the 17th instant on the subject of purchasing mortgaged Negroes, to which communication I had hoped by this time to have received a reply... You cannot in justice deny the right to purchase this property at a fair valuation, and must perceive that it will be to your interest for sooner will obtain your money... Yours at Servant, J. Macquillen" Written in brown ink on brown paper. There are some minor holes and tears, but they do not diminish the document.
