May 3, 1837, Texas Slave Bill for Sale of Thirteen Named Slaves, San Augustine County, Texas Republic, Very Fine. 10" x 7.75" A bill of Sale whereby, for $5000, Nathaniel Kellum sells to John Haly: "...Thirteen Negroes, slaves for life, to wit: Milly aged about 30 and her five children, to wit: Elizabeth, Washington, Joshua, Jane, & Milly... Harriet, aged 17 or 18, Gracy aged 22, Lydia aged 30, Libby aged 30, Tennessee aged 7, Wilson aged 6, Dinah aged 33... said Kilum warrants & defends the title as well as the soundness of said Negro slaves... forever." Written in manuscript on blue fine laid paper. It is 2 pieces of paper glued together into one. There are a few small spots on the paper and there is a light overall tone.
