November 13, 1855, Injunction to Stop Sale of Slaves, Choice Extremely Fine. Manuscript Document, being an Injunction to restrain sale of slaves pending a Court ruling; 2 pages, 7.5" x 9," County of Galveston, Texas, November 13, 1855. Fastened by a brass bracket, the second sheet has three files holes at top, not affecting text. Eleanor Spann, having "prayed for and obtained an injunction against said Moore & said Stockbridge to restrain them from selling certain negroes slaves as is set forth... shall... pay all sums of money & costs that may adjudged against her if the injunction is dissolved." In 1855, approximately 29% of the population of the State of Texas was, as evidenced here, mere property.
