1 page, 7.5" x 4.75", partially printed note signed by C.C. Sibley October 16, 1868. This official note announces the resignation of C.C. Sibley from the post of Chief of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedman and Abandoned Lands for the State of Georgia. It reads in part, "...he desires to express his unqualified approbation of the manner in which the Sub-Assistant Commissioners and Agents have performed the try and arduous duties of their positions..." Beside two punch holes where the the document was bound, the note in in extremely fine condition.
