African statue, 16-1/2’x10” at shoulders, with letter of authenticity, dated 1997, which reads in part: “...The extremely fine carving of a negro male was purchased from an elderly lady circa 1983. She said her father was a missionary in the Belgium Congo from the 1920’s to 1960 and he brought it back from there shortly before he passed away in 1964. He had purchased it circa 1927-1929; she thinks it was from the original carver....” The statue is in near Fine condition.
