LEE, Charles Henry (b. 1818-?) Judge advocate in the office of the Confederate Adjutant-General at Richmond, with the rank of major. He was a specialist in the laws of courts-martial and published a book on the military law of the Confederate States of America. Autograph Endorsement Signed, “CH Lee” who returns the document to Genl Elzey. The document is a 1p. small quarto, copy of a letter from the Haracall Crenshaw & Co., September 18, 1863, addressed to Captain J. Hatley Norton, and reads: “...In reply to your note...Michael Geddings...is not and has not been [employed] since May last. That name was included in a list, we handed in May last to the Department...” Mounted at left margin, two tape repairs, one to complete separation, else Good.
