Autograph Letter Signed, “ Jno. H. Schoolfield”, 10th Virginia Cavalry, 4p. quarto, Horse Pasture, Virginia, October 15, 1864, and reads in part: “...There has been quite a commotion among all the detailed men and those assigned to light duty, here on account of there being ordered into the service, the most of them have gone the balance will start very soon. Dr. Morris was among the number...if this state of things continues it will bring starvation to a great many people in this country, there are some seven or eight hundred persons in this county dependent alone upon the county for support and the committe for their support have not suceeded in getting provisions for them...” Good.
