Partly-printed Document Signed, "S.B. Pickens Col. Comdg. Brigade", 1p. quarto, May 1864, being Confederate imprint 'Form 18' issued to Sergeant J.W. Butler, of Company 'C' 5th Alabama Regiment, and bears additional "T.U. Riley Capt. Co. C. 5th Ala. Regt." VG.Samuel B. Pickens (1839-1892) graduated from the SCMA, was appointed Lt. Col of the 12 Alabama in June 1862 made Colonel by the end of the summer and was twice wounded in action at South Mountain and Spotsylvania.
