COCKRELL, Francis Marion (1834-1915) Commanded a Missouri brigade at Vicksburg, where he was captured and paroled. Appointed Brig. General, and led a brigade during the Atlanta campaign. Severely wounded at Franklin, November 30, 1864. ALS 1p. 4to., Warrensburg, MO., June 19, 1891, in part:"…I regret I can not give you the data desired in your favor 12 inst. I have however written to Col. A.J.P. Garesche, one of the old resident attorneys of St Louis, Mo., asking him to give you the information desired…" Very Good to fine.
