COCKRELL, Francis Marion (1834-1915) Commanded a Missouri brigade at Vicksburg, where he was captured and paroled. Appointed Brig. General, and led a brigade during the Atlanta campaign. Severely wounded at Franklin, November 30, 1864.A 1p. 8 vo.. ALS Warrenburg, Mo., June 29, 1891 to a Mr. Conway, in part:"…I wrote to Col. A.P. Gareshe…Col. G. says, 'I knew De Bonneville well, but my impression is that while among our Creoles he was a most welcome visitor he had no friends". Very Good.
