Partly-printed Document Signed twice, “R.W. Withers Lt. Col. 42nd Regt. Va. Infty” 1p. quarto, November 30, 1863, being a requisition for forage for two private horses “in the service of Confederate States”. Fine. Robert W. Withers enlisted as a private in June, 1861 into the 42nd Virginia Infantry, he would rise to colonel in February 1864, and was WIA & taken POW at Sherperdstown, Virginia, August 25, 1864.
