HAMPTON, Wade ( 1818 – 1902) Confederate General, commanded and paid for the raising of “Hampton’s Legion” Partly printed ADS, Columbia, South Carolina , being a loan for 12,821.76, signed by Hampton and his wife at the bottom of the document. The document also appears to be signed four times on the verso by Hampton as he wrote four annual receipts for interest on the loan. If so, each of these receipts, which constitute about a paragraph of writing for each of them, could be separated and stand on their own. One small tear at the center, else very good.
