Partly-printed Oath of Allegiance, 1p. oblong, June 20, 1865, Fort Delaware, for “Charles C. McElyea” 37th Virginia Infantry, who was taken Prisoner of War at Spotsylvania Court House, and confined at Fort Delaware until he signed this oath “C.C. McElyea” and was released. The oath also contains the stamped signature of “Geo W. Ahl” Capt. & A.A.A.G. as well as a rare “Head Quarters/ Fort Delaware” authorization stamp. VG.
