Participated in Battle of Bull Run (#1 and #2), Chickamauga, Malvern Hill, Antietam, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg, among other major engagements. Distinguished at Fredericksburg. Post-war jurist. Autograph letter signed, “J. B. Kershaw”, 1p., quarto, Camden S.C., July 19th [18]66. Addressed in lower left to James D. Treadwell Esq., Columbia, it pertains to a financial matter involving 2nd SC soldier, Duncan McRa. Some toning and soiling, otherwise VG.
