Autograph Letter Signed, “Amos Perry” 3rd Rhode Island Cavalry, who was wounded at Bayou Goula on January 15, 1865 and would died the next day from those wounds, 4p. octavo, Donaldsonville, Louisiana, December 15, 1864, it reads in part: “...we go up and get a gay old dinner at some of their Planters you go in and tell them you want dinner for so many men and they dastent refuse you, if they do we just walk in and take what we want. That is the way we work for our living. There is 11 months and 28 days pay due me now...I can’t get any good tobacco to chew up here...when we was coming down from Plaquemine yesterday we saw 15 rebels in a sugar mill but they did not touch us so we did not them. There was only nine of us, if there had been more of us we would just give them a folly or so but they out numbered us so we just got out of their way quick as possible...there was 13 of our boys went out on a scout and they got took prisoners of war and one Lieut and doctor as taken prisoners but the doctor was paroled and he was wounded through the arm and the Lieut was wounded through the leg...” Fine.
