Group of three letters by Harmon J. Trask, 8th Iowa Infantry, enlisted in September 1861, WIA at Shiloh, and discharged in April 1866. Includes: ALS, 4p. octavo, April 10, 1865, and reads in part: “...we had a little skirmish saturday the 8th, butnone on the Black Rock Boys was hurt we had one man in our co. wounded the regt lost six men killed dead & twenty mortaly wounded. We have taken Spanish Fort & Blakesley was taken yestreday....James was wounded I think the 6th inst dead...he had his entrails tore out with a parrot shell...” VG. (5 items)
