Measures 8 1/4" X 12 1/4", light age toning, edge chip at top left, minor wear, archival tape repair back left edge, overall good condition. The piece is dated October 12, 1878, and announces a "Butler Flag Raising" in Worcester, Mass. There was music, speeches, and a letter from both Butler and Petroleum V. Nasby. Butler lost this campaign, but won the Governor's seat in 1882. Butler also ran for President in 1884, and was a Union General in the Civil War. At the very bottom of the broadside, in small print, it reads "Printed on this cheap paper at Ben's request, to save expense.
