Typed Letter Signed "Simon Lake" on engraved letterhead, December 20, 1938, New York, New York, 11" x 8.5", About Fine. To Mr. Lawrence Coleman, Director, Association of Museums, Washington, D.C. Excellent content, in part: "While in conversation with Dr. Minor of the American Museum of Natural History... he referred me to you. I noted from an article in the New Yorj [sic] Times... that this Museum was sending an Expedition up the Orinoco River in Venezuela under the direction of... Howard Livingston Sutton. Can you tell me anything regarding the scope of this Museum and other museums. I am planning a submarine expedition to Southern Waters and may find material that may be of interest to the various museums. Any information you may give me will be treated as confidential." Light toning, primarily in margins. Boldly signed in black ink.
