MATISSE, Henri (1869-1954) His art was based on a method that consists in separating elements of the work into drawing, colour, composition – and then joining the elements in a synthesis. Rare Autograph Letter Signed, “H. Mattisse” 1p. octavo, in French, it reads “"I am in Paris, undecided about being vaccinated by Burdock, as you recommend to me. Can you give me a word of recommendation to help me start. I called your place several times and I suppose you are in Cassis, as no one answered. Excusing my offhandedness, please receive, dear professor, my best regards. H. Mattise." Fine.
