TERESA (of Calcutta), Mother (1910–1997). Christian missionary in India, born in Skopje, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. She went to India in 1928, and taught at a convent school in Calcutta, taking her final vows in 1937. She became principal of the school, but in 1948 left the convent to work alone in the slums. TYped Letter Signed, “M Teresa” 1p. 12mo., Calcutta, October 4, 1992, addressed to Ms. Leak Peppers of Utah, and reads “Thank you for your get-well card and for your prayers and wishes for my recovery from my recent illness. I am deeply touched at your kindness and I ask God to fill you with His blessings - you and your family. Keep the joy of loving God in one another and share this joy with others...” VG.
