“I had one of your small bibles last winter and the other day, without much reflection gave it to a friend. I do not remember the price but I enclose $5.00 please send me two copies. If price is more, trust me to send the balance…I send [also] subscription for the Occident.” Describes binding style he wishes book and method to send. Writes about a book he received from London that he “read with great satisfaction” asking Leeser if the author, a “Dr. P.”, was Orthodox and that “…the work can only tend to elevate the reputation of Judaism with a Jewish man…who, like myself, have known but little of our faith.” Also mentions reading information concerning “…the Karaites [an early Jewish sect] of the Crimea…and India…the Karaites [that I have read about] were in travels in Russia…you can get the book in Phila.”…and more about a settlement of the Karaites in Baghdad, etc. His writing a bit difficult to discern in places, but major part and substance are clear. Condition exc. Interesting to note that it was in Vincennes that Adam Gimbel opened the very first of the famous chain of stores of the “Gimbel Brothers” in 1842
