Printed appeal by the president of leading Phila. congregation, Mickve Israel for funds to restore it. One page 5 ½ x 8 ½. The type-face in a script style (simulates an invitation!) dated Phila. April 30, 1885: “The condition of the Cemetery on Federal Street demands immediate repairs. The funds of the Congre. are too low to stand this extra demand and I am compelled to appeal to those interested to come to our aid. Estimated cost of needed repairs is $500. …I regret this appeal to your generosity has to be made so soon after my former request…a source of income limited…our own sense of duty impels us to keep down dilapidation if we cannot beautify it…” Printed signature of A. M. Frechie / Parnass who was also president and a well known tobacco merchant in Philadelphia. Light aging. Exc. +. with bio sketch of Frechie. (Unrecorded in Singerman)
