An extremely early partly printed American charter for a vessel, 1p. roughly 10"x 16", July 14, 1806, whereby the ship "Eunice" , a vessel of 195 tons, is chartered by to merchants, one from Portsmouth and the other from the Island of Grenada. The Charter stipulates that the vessel will sail from New Bedford to St.Georges. The merchants agree that they are to carry a cargo of :"Masts, spars, plank, & whatever other merchandise they shall choose to place on board. Instead of being paid in cash, the owner of the vessel has agreed to be paid with $3500 in rum at its current cost upon arrival, Another condition of the charter is that Charles Grey can use the Captain's Quarters at no charge, and is allowed to carry back fifty puncheons of his own rum for no additional freight costs. A note on the verso of the charter says that both parties have fulfilled their part of the bargain. Very good.
