March 1, 1826, "Message from the President of the United States... in Relation to the Present Suffering Condition of the Indians in Florida," Printed by Gales and Seaton, Washington, D.C., Choice Very Fine+. President John Quincy Adams sent this "message" to the 19th Congress, 1st Session, Doc. No. 111. Disbound booklet, 6 pages, with minor holes though not affecting the document's text, partially separated along spine, 5.25" x 8.5". The message reads in part, "I communicate to Congress a letter from the Secretary of War, together with a representation from Colonel Brooke, relating to the present condition of the Indians in Florida, and which I recommend to the favorable considerations of Congress. John Quincy Adams." The forwarded letter states current droughts and hardships faced by the Indians and requests more monetary assistance. Title page with ink notation: "See last." Last page with ink notation: "See next."
