Autograph Letter Signed, “Wm Johnson” 1-1/2p. quarto, New York, February 15, 1836, addressed to John Knicerbacker ‘One of the Wardens of Grace Church, Waterford’ and reads in part: “...The appreciation of Grace Church Waterford, to Trinity Church in this City for pecuniary aid, has been referred with many others, by the Vestry of the latter Chruch to their Standing Committee to consider & report therein. The aid afforded by T.C. has been confined to cases of very urgent necessity, & where the applicants, after every exertion on their part, have found themselves unable to discharge debts incurred in the building of their Churches....” More.
