Autograph Letter Signed by Stephen Duncan, 3p. quarto, Natchez, Mississippi, September 18, 1846, with fine green postal markings, addressed to Charles Levenich of New York on integral address leaf, it reads in part: “...In regards to the Cotton crop, I can say nothing more favorable than was written in my last, in contrary the prospect is less favorable now than it was 10 days ago. If the crops in S. Alabama - Forida & the Atlantic states, have suffered to the same extent, that was here, in all this region, the whole crop of the U.S. would not exceed 1,500,000 bales...” More with estimate of the number of bales produced by New Orleans, Mobile, Florida, and the Atlantic states.
