Autograph Letter Signed, 3p. quarto, “New York Hospital” March 31, 1848, and reads in part:” ...You see I am writing this at the Hospital. I stood my examination & was admitted here one week ago...My appointment here is an exceedingly valuable one. There is only one a year - This year I am ‘Junior Walker’ as it is termed, and my duties are to be at the Hospital morning & evening - to go the rounds with the Physician, to bleed, cuss, leech, assist at Post mortems, bandage, & copy history of all the medical cases...Next year I come in as ‘Senior Walker’...” More.
