A very scarce 1p.4to. policy issued by the Mutual Marine Insurance Company of New York, June 18, 1855, A policy insuring 7000 gallons of Sperm Whale Oil on board the ship "William & Henry" valued at 100 cents per gallon. Taking into account inflation since 1855, the value of this oil is many, many times greater than what we currently pay for petroleum. Documents of any sort pertaining to the whaling industry are extremely scarce. Near Fine.
