A large and quite presentable master manifest for the outward bound whaling ship "Herald". Dated April of 1864, the manifest bears three $ 1.00 Inland Exchange revenue stamps, and lists its cargo as: "Utensils for a whaling voyage". Since The Herald was sailing during the Civil War, one may expect that her cargo was more carefully examined than usual, as the Northern authorities were determined to allow no goods to enter the South through the blockade. In addition to the value of the revenue stamps in this uncommon usage, the manifest is quite presentable and collectable because of its association with the whaling industry. Very good.$
