LONG, Huey (1893-1935) Governor of Louisiana, Long espoused the redistribution of wealth in his ‘Share the Wealth’ crusade; announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for President in August 1935; shot by an assassin in the State Capitol Building in Baton Rouge on September 8, 1935, and died on September 10, 1935.Typed Letter Signed, 1p.4to. , June 10, 1933, on the subject of collecting autographs and veterans benefits to a Mr. Ewing C. Sadler of Sulphur, Okla., in full: My dear Mr. Sadler: I was pleased to receive your letter of June 9th advising that you are making a collection of autographs and signed documents, and was gratified to know that you desire mine. I have devoted every effort at this session of Congress in behalf of Veteran Legislation, and will not stop until we have secured for our soldier friends the very best deal we can possibly get. With regards and best wishes, I am, Sincerely, Huey P. Long. Very light soiling, otherwise very good.
