In the summary are three references to George Washington’s early military career; “Oct. 1753 Colonel Washington sets out on his remarkable journey to Lake Erie,” and “May 1754 Washington defeats a detachment of Contrecoeoeur’s commanded by Junonville, and “July 1754 Villiers obliges Washington in Fort Necessity to capitulate” (reference to Washington’s only military surrender). Volumes also include several plates, “Plan and Fortifications of Montreal,” Perspective View of Lake George and Ticonderoga,” and portrait of General Wolfe. Boards present, separations at spine.
