Autograph Letter Signed, 2p. quarto, March 10, 1848, with integral leaf addressed to H.J. Hindenhoper of Pennsylvania, and reads in part: “...Mr. Adams funeral is just over. If a disembodied spirit has any satisfaction in the respect paid to that part of him which was mortal, surely Mr. Adams’ ghost will have reason to be more than contented. A funeral in Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York & Boston ought to satisfy the posthumous spirit most [?] funeral honors. It was very wet today & very few people turned out. Except the military, I never saw a smaller procession....” Fine.
