WILSON, Woodrow (1856 - 1924) Twenty-eighth President of the United States who passed sweeping reform laws, gave women the right to vote, and led the United States through World War I setting the ground work for the League of Nations. Typed Letter Signed, “Woodrow Wilson” 1p. quarto, Paris, January 11, 1919, with cover addressed to poet Canon Rawnsley, and reads: “...It was very gratifying and refrshing to catch a glimps of you and Mrs. Rawnsley when I was in Carlisle and I thank you warmly for your thoughtfulness in sending me your book ‘Past and Present at the English Lakes’. Will you not alos thank my Quaker friend in Easedale for the telegram? Mrs. Wilson joins me in friendly greetings...” Fine.
