WILSON, Woodrow (1856-1924) 28th president, governor of New Jersey 1911-13, defeated Taft and Roosevelt in the 1912 Presidential election. He guided the country through the Great War and his administration helped to pass the Underwood Tariff, the Federal Reserve Act, and the Federal Trade Commission. Typed Letter Signed, “Woodrow Wilson” as President, 1p. quarton, on The White House stationary, October 5, 1914, addressed to Doctor Henry Stimson, and reads “Thank you for your note of October fourth! It heartens and stimulates me more than you can know....” Fine.
