ROOSEVELT, Franklin (1882 - 1945) Thirty-second President of the United States who instituted the "New Deal" programs and who led the United States through most of World War II. Typed Letter Signed, “Franklin Roosevelt”, 1p. quarto, February 1, 1933, on his personal stationary, addressed to Major General William N. Haskell, who led the 27th Division into the 2nd World War, dated one month before Roosevelt would take office, it reads “I have been holding your note with the idea of arranging a definite appointment. As my schedule now stands, every minute until March 4th is taken but I am not giving up hope of having that fifteen minute talk with you. If you will call my secretary, Miss Marguerite Le Hand, upon my return to New York City next month, she may be able to take advantage of some cancelled appointment and squeeze in time for us to have a chat...” Fine.
