Autograph Letter Signed, 3p. quarto, on “Office of Baird House” lettersheet, Muskogee, Indian Territory, May 15, 1883, and reads in part: “...There has been war in the Creek Nation. They separated into two parties. One party under the command of an Indian named Sprieche and the other Chacote. Sprieche surrendered to the Government and they took him through here to Fort Gibson...I suppose there was a thousand women, children and men, all full bloods. Some walking, some on ponies and some in wagons and the soldiers ahead marching had a fife and drum and a flag...There has been a full bloods killed a since they commenced fighting but it is settled now...” Fine.
