C., Dec. 8, 1862 being Special Orders No. 246 authorizing the extension of a furlough for Lieut. S. W[arren] Nelson, 7th South Carolina Battalion while also detailing Pvt. W. D. Elkins, 2nd South Carolina Light Artillery to report to Col. G. W. Rains at one of the Confederacy's most important arsenals at Augusta, Georgia. Authorized by command of General Beauregard. Signed and made official by Col. John M. Otey as assistant adjutant general. Negligible edge wear, else VG
