War-date Union Quartermaster's letter, 1p. 8vo., written by Post Quartermaster, 1st Lt. Peter M. Peterson 46th New York Vols., Tybee Island, Ga., Feb. 15, 1862, to Capt. H. A. Hascall, asst. quartermaster Hilton Head, S. C., reading, in part: "…please find receipts for stores sent to…Tybee [Island.] In regard to the three boats…I send one this time by the John Gyon. The other two are in such a condition occasioned by shipping the heavy guns…that I have to put them…in…a state of repairs as is absolutely necessary to send them of[f]. My opinion is to be able to send one by each trip…". Near fine.
