Three pieces of Fractional Currancy including; 10 Cents, Red Seal, William Meredith; plus, (2) 25 cents, Red Seal, George Washington. All good. Fractional currency, also referred to as shinplasters, was introduced by the United States federal government following the outbreak of the Civil War. These fractional notes were in use between August 1862 and February 1876.
