I was a good deal anxious about them…for a few days during the Battle at Fredericksburg for I knew they were both there…I felt an earnestness in prayer than if I ever did. I wish that I could tell you how much comfort I found in prayers than. POW Chancellorsville 5/03/63] last letter was written a week ago…he was than well. He saw Spencer [G/ Spencer Vibbert, Co. B, 15th Conn.] Christmas day…they are now about two miles apart. They saw some pretty hard fighting especially Nelson. He was in the very hottest part of the firing [the 27th lost 19 men killed and nearly ninety wounded at Fredericksburg] for six hours. He says his boot legs are pretty well marked up with pieces of shells. His pants were inside of his boot legs. He says he was knocked down by something and lay insensible for sometime but he could find no wound or bruises. he concludes that it was the wind of a shell…Lucy Vibbert." Minor toning, else VG
