War-date Union soldier's letter, 2pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. John R. Carnahan, Co. K, 67th Penn. Vols., Brandy Station, May 3, 1864, to his father, in part: "…all is quiet here but [some] say that we will move the morrow…we have a big army here…the next time…I can give you someone's for I think there will be some hard fighting soon…John R. Carnahan…". Attached is a two page letter John's father wrote to him in reply to a previous letter. Most of his phonetic spelling has been corrected. The original stamped transmittal cover is included. Minor spotting, else VG
