Mounted albumen, 8-1/2” x 6-1/2” on larger mount, titled “General Custer and General Pleasonton, 1862. These two Generals were well known cavalry officers of the Army of Potomac.” Identified on the mount, “1861 The War for the Union Photographic History 1865 .... Taylor & Huntingto, No.2, State Street, Hartford, Conn.” The photo was taken by Timothy H. O'Sullivan. The mount has minor water damage on the right and bottom edge, the image is sharp and clear. The Library of Congress dates this to October 1863, Warrenton and clearly shows the horizontal crack in the negative which is very muted in this output.
