Front panel of a political cover, 6” x 3-1/2” with a design of the first National Confederate flag, seven stars signifying the original Confederate states. In the red stripes is "Jeff. Davis, Pres. - Alex H. Stephens, Vice Pres." In the center stripe it reads "A Secession envelope." The cover panel is pasted down to a letter and a second patriotic cover on the reverse.
