Carte de visite photograph of commercial vessel crewman Charles S. Tallman, the sole survivor of the wreck of the schooner Christina off Cape Poge, Mass on Jan. 7, 1866. Tallman clung to his perch on rocks in sight of Hyannis for four days until his rescue. The photo, which bears his tale on the verso, shows that Tallman lost some or most of both of his feet. Fine.
