A rare war-date Union army Oath of Allegiance (printed on adversity paper Merchants' & Planters Bank, Savannah, Georgia) which served a Confederate parole for a Georgia soldier's, 1p. oblong 8vo., issued by 1st Lieut. and Provost Marshal Simon K. Fuller, 4th Iowa Cavalry at Augusta, Georgia to Pvt. John B. Pournell, Co. B, 1st Georgia Vols. At the bottom of the form is a brief descriptive list for Pournell that indicates that he worked as a postal clerk before entering the "rebel service" as a private. A further note adds that he is "entitled to provisions of Special Order, No. 82, Head-Quarters Armies of the United States, Aug. 28, 1864." Usual forms, else VG
