HIMMLER, Heinrich Luitpold (1900-1945) was Reichsführer of the Schutzstaffel (Protection Squadron; SS), and a leading member of the Nazi Party (NSDAP) of Germany. Nazi leader Adolf Hitler briefly appointed him a military commander and later Commander of the Replacement (Home) Army and General Plenipotentiary for the administration of the entire Third Reich (Generalbevollmächtigter für die Verwaltung). Himmler was one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany and one of the people most directly responsible for the Holocaust. War-date Typed Document Signed “H. Himmler” 1pp. quarto, November 24, 1944, recommending the Heer Major Aldred Dorrong be awarded the German Cross in Silver. This award was granted primarily for significant achievements in the continuation of the war effort. In this case, Dorrong headed a group of officers who developed a substitute for ammonia to be used in explosives, thus negating supply shortages. Countersigned by General of the Artillery WALTER KEINER (1890-1978) and by SS Obergruppenfuhrer HANS JUETTNER (1894-1965). Very good condition.
