Complete bound volume of the Illustrated Christian Weekly from 1874. As its name implies, this 624-page, 52-issue volume is full of wonderful, detailed engravings. In addition to strictly Christian themes (prodigal son, Gethsemane, Moses striking the stone, church assemblies, etc.), there are themes of family, good works, temperance, Christian leaders and historical figures. Expect to see Martin Luther, John Bunyan, Rev. De Witt Talmage, the Women’s Praying Crusade. Engravings of children, animals, nature scenes (land, sea and air). This is truly a treasure trove of 19th century artwork and fine printing. Tons of text on a variety of topics (home hints, agriculture, travel, tours, Centennial Exposition). Obviously issued weekly, 12-pages each edition. Excellent condition. In excess of 200 illustrations, usually half dozen or so nice-sized illustrations per issue.
